about tom. . .

Introduced to performing arts through elementary school choir, musical theater, and band, Tom selected the trumpet as his musical voice shortly before junior high. In high school, he studied with his first trumpet teacher, Joe Amaral. After high school (and after a brief stint as a microbiologist), Tom began formal, institutionalized study at San José State University, where he obtained a B.A. in Music Performance. During this time he studied with James F. Dooley and briefly with Tim Morrison.

Next was the pursuit of a Master of Music degree at Purchase Conservatory of Music in New York. There, Tom studied with Graham Ashton and Jon Faddis. He has had further graduate studies at the University of Southern California with Boyde Hood.

He has also studied music composition with Neal Desby and Dan Wyman and has a Graduate Certficate in Film Scoring from UCLA.

Tom is currently active as a composer, arranger, and trumpet artist based in, but not limited to, the Los Angeles area. He has recently written music for a festival film and for competitive marching bands.
